Classes Offered

Piano Lessons

Private piano lessons are offered, starting from 1 half hour lesson per week, to students as young as 5 years old.

With a background in Western Classical Music, Kathryn prefers to teach in preparation for the Royal Schools Exams (ABRSM), but has experience with the Trinity Music School Exams too. Concerts and Eisteddfods are all par of the course, and are offered to encourage and better student’s confidence and skill set.

From beginners to more advanced students, KGMS can offer you an enjoyable and well-rounded experience. Whatever your goals and aspirations are, we will help you achieve them!

Singing Lessons

Private lessons begin at 1 half hour lesson per week, for students from the age of 10 upwards. Group classes are also available, where you can learn useful skills alongside other students and/or friends, such as harmonizing and blending tonalities.

With many years of experience singing in choirs, bands, and worship teams, Kathryn can offer you lessons focused on a variety of styles, from Classical to Contemporary. Whether you want to sing purely for your own enjoyment, or whether you have a goal in mind, we can offer you a range of options to suit your needs.

Children's Group Classes

During her years of study at UCT, Kathryn took part in a 6 month exchange programme with the Royal College of Music in Sweden. Here she learned to utilize Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a methodology incorporating movement and visual stimulation in order to understand musical concepts.

Specifically for little ones, these lessons aim to create an all round experience, instilling an appreciation for and interest in music. Classes will be divided into 2 groups, ages 2-3yr and 4-5yr, and will be no bigger than 10 students per class.

Classes for the youngest students (ages 2-3yr) are created to be enjoyable for both parents and children alike, so you are encouraged to accompany your little one to lessons!

(This course is subject to interest shown in the programme)

Additional Lessons

KGMS also offers music Theory, Aural, and History, specifically catering to High School music students who may need extra lessons. Should students wish to learn in their private capacity, the ABRSM music syllabus is followed.
